Do The HARD Thing

I wish I could have one of those moments where I stop and move in slow motion as the world speeds by me. Its very strange to see all the different victories and struggles each person deals with every day. We all fight our own demons every day, yet we still manage to get up the next day and do it again and again and again. Its truly remarkable. My mother came upon this statement a few years back and tried drilling it into my little brother's head, when in reality, I think it stuck in mine. "Do the hard thing."

How many times in our lives do we just skip out and go the easy route? We go on and on about passion and our dreams, goals, wishes and lives, yet do we really want to ever put in the work? Some do, but others just cover it up by today's thinking behind what is right for "me." We have stopped doing the hard thing. It says in the Bible that "No sin is greater than another." And I believe this to be true in every account. I feel as if this has been taken to the extreme in today's society. Because we all sin and none is greater than another, we feel like we are justified in doing things like murdering, committing adultery and allow homosexuality to be socially acceptable. But hey, its ok. Because my sin is no greater, so its okay. I am finding that good Christian people are making this excuse. Saying that it is ok, because I know I am sinning but I know God forgives me. Where is the part where it says, we should refrain from it all!?!? Its very perplexing and is something I am struggling to understand.

  1. I'm proud of you for really thinking about the hard things...here's some encouragement from your big sis. :)

    Romans 6:
1 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2 By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? 3 Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life...
11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. 13 Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness. 14 For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace. 15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means! 16 Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? 17 But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance. 18 You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.
19 I am using an example from everyday life because of your human limitations. Just as you used to offer yourselves as slaves to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness. 20 When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. 21 What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! 22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in[b] Christ Jesus our Lord.

Lyrics from Slow Fade by Casting Crowns
Be careful little eyes what you see
It's the second glance that ties your hands as darkness pulls the strings
Be careful little feet where you go
For it's the little feet behind you that are sure to follow

It's a slow fade when you give yourself away
It's a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
    When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
    It's a slow fade, it's a slow fade

Be careful little ears what you hear
When flattery leads to compromise, the end is always near
Be careful little lips what you say
For empty words and promises lead broken hearts astray

It's a slow fade when you give yourself away
It's a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
    When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day

The journey from your mind to your hands
    Is shorter than you're thinking
Be careful if you think you stand
    You just might be sinking

It's a slow fade when you give yourself away
It's a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
    When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
Daddies never crumble in a day
Families never crumble in a day

Oh be careful little eyes what see
Oh be careful little eyes what you see
For the Father up above is looking down in love
Oh be careful little eyes what you see
